Elisa Scrollavezza, the daughter of renowned luthier Renato Scrollavezza, grew up closely immersed in her father’s violin-making work. She enrolled at the A. Boito Conservatory of Music in Parma, where she studied violin performance and music education. In 1991, she graduated from the Violin Making School of Parma and began producing instruments independently while also assisting her father during training courses. In 2001, she promoted the foundation of Liuteria Parmense, an organization that manages the violin making school and organises exhibitions, events, and masterclasses featuring some of the most prominent international luthiers and restorers. In 2002, she co-founded the Scrollavezza & Zanrè atelier with Andrea Zanrè, focusing primarily on the construction of string quartet instruments. Their activities also include historical copies, instrument trade, restoration, and the publication of specialised literature. Elisa has given lectures and presentations in prestigious settings, including in Canada during a meeting of the EILA (Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers), of which she became a member in 2010. She has also served as a jury member in several international violin making competitions. Since 2019, following the passing of her father, she has been dedicated to preserving his legacy, which includes an extensive collection of instruments, documents, and artworks amassed over many decades. In this role, she serves as curator of the Renato Scrollavezza Museum, housed in the Castello della Musica in Noceto.
