Marco Osio was born in Manerbio, province of Brescia, in 1976. He graduated in 1994 from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona under the guidance of Giorgio Scolari. He later refined his skills alongside Gio Batta Morassi and his son Simeone, from whom he learned a contemporary approach rooted in the great Cremonese tradition. He builds violins, violas, and cellos inspired by the models of Stradivari, Guarneri, Amati, and Ornati (1929), using carefully selected and seasoned tonewoods. His spirit and oil varnishes, in orange-brown tones with golden highlights, are the result of personal research aimed at achieving a balance between aesthetics, durability, and acoustic quality. His instruments have received prestigious international awards, including at competitions such as Tchaikovsky (Moscow), Triennale (Cremona), Metelka (Nachod), Mittenwald, Arvenzis (Slovakia), Eufonia, Wieniawski (Poznan), and Malta. Since 2012, he has led specialisation courses in Cremona and served as a juror in international violin making competitions. His instruments are highly appreciated by musicians and collectors and are played worldwide, especially in China, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States.
