Paolo Virgoletti was born in Montecchio Emilia, in the province of Reggio Emilia, on the 25th of August 1981. He has been dedicated to violin making since 1999, the year he began working alongside his uncle, Arturo Virgoletti, in the family workshop. In 2002, he moved to Cremona to continue his studies with Maestro Elio Severgnini of Castelleone. From 2008 to 2010, he worked in Madrid as an assistant in the studio of Maestro José Maria Lozano.During his training, he acquired a solid foundation in the construction of classical string instruments, functional and conservative restoration, acoustic adjustment, and the study of classical varnishes. Over the years, he has participated in several international competitions. In 2023, he received the silver medal for violin at the 17th International Violin Making Competition of Pisogne. In 2024, he was awarded the gold medal for violin at the 18th edition of the same competition. He is a member of the Italian Violin Makers Association (A.L.I.). In the construction of new instruments, he is inspired by the models of Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri “Del Gesù”, and primarily by his own personal model. He currently lives and works in Parma.
