Mario Pulvirenti is originally from Siracusa, where he began studying the cello. It was through music that he first became interested in violin making, spending time at the Archimedearchi workshop, where his passion for the craft was born and developed.
In 2019, he moved to Cremona to study at the “Antonio Stradivari” International School of Violin Making, where he graduated in 2023 under the guidance of masters Luca Bellini and Andrea Varazzani.
Alongside his academic studies, he honed his skills by working in several artisan workshops. In particular, he collaborated with master luthier Marco Nolli, specializing in double bass maintenance, and most significantly with master Marco Osio, with whom he continues to study. Under Osio’s mentorship, he refined his construction techniques and stylistic approach to classical Cremonese violin making, developing a personal style rooted in tradition.
His instruments are crafted exclusively from high-quality, well-seasoned tonewoods and are inspired by the great Cremonese masters such as Amati, Stradivari, and Guarneri, with careful attention to both style and acoustic performance. He uses both alcohol and oil varnishes, adapting them to the specific needs of each instrument.
Since 2024, he has run his own workshop in Cremona. That same year, he took part in the ANLAI violin making competition in Pisogne, the G.B. Guadagnini competition in Piacenza, and the prestigious 17th Triennial International Violin Making Competition in Cremona. He is a member of the Italian Violin Making Association (A.L.I.).
