Lorenzo Frignani, has been working professionally as a luthier since 1986. Over the years, he has received numerous prizes and awards in both national and international competitions and has served as a jury member at competitions in Baveno, Pisogne and Sesto Fiorentino. He was the President of A.L.I. Professionisti (the Italian Association of Professional Luthiers) from 2018 to 2024. He regularly collaborates by writing articles with an historical focus, on magazines such as The Strad, Liuteria-Musica-Cultura, Guitart and Seicorde. Frignani has also edited numerous publications, including the books Marino and Mario Capicchioni liutai co-written with the luthier Pio Sbrighi from Rimini. Giuseppe Fiorini, liutaio, Pietro Messori liutaio in Modena, Il liutaio Francesco Manfredi written in collaboration with Roberto Fiorini, a descendant of the historic family of luthiers, Luigi Mozzani - life and works in collaboration with Giovanni Intelisano. For over ten years, he was a teacher and artistic director at the School of Violin Making in Pieve di Cento, where he trained students who have now achieved high recognition. He received the “La Bonissima” Award from the Municipality of Modena, which honors excellences on the territory. In 2010, he was awarded the “Spataffi” Prize by the city of Gubbio. In 2011, he received the “City of Fiuggi” Prize as Violin Maker of the Year. In 2016, he was honored with the “City of Alessandria” Prize, with the motivation: “a life dedicated to violin making”. He is an internationally renowned luthier, collector, and expert in Italian plucked and bowed string instruments.
