Chiara Lancellotti has developed a strong interest in music from a young age and began studying the violin at the Conservatory of her hometown, Brescia. She continued her academic studies in Parma, where she earned a degree in Science and Technology for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. During this time, she also approached the art of violin making, attending the International School of Violin Making in Parma for five years under the guidance of Renato Scrollavezza, Elisa Scrollavezza, and Andrea Zanrè. It was during this experience that she realised lutherie was the craft through which she could best express herself: an intersection of art, music, and skilled handwork. After graduating in 2014, she moved to Cremona, where she worked for several years as an apprentice in the workshop of Giorgio and Ricardo Grisales. In January 2019, she opened her own workshop in the historic center of Brescia, where she passionately dedicates herself to the construction and repair of stringed instruments, particularly violins and violas. Her work draws inspiration from the great masters of tradition, while always striving to express her own personal style. Her preferred reference models are rooted in the Stradivarian school and the ancient Brescian tradition, especially the forms of Gasparo da Salò. She has also attended a course in bow maintenance at the Violin Making School of Milan and later honed her skills in the workshop of Giancarlo Pedretti in Gardone Val Trompia. She provides bow hair replacement and repair services as part of her work. Since 2023, she has been a member of the A.L.I. – Associazione Liutaria Italiana.
