Gerardo Centonze was born in Taranto in 1986. He is a luthier specialised in construction and restoration of string instruments. He started as a self-taught luthier and in 2013 he decided to deepen his training by enrolling at the Civic School of Lutherie in Milan. In 2017, after his diploma as a Master Luthier, he decided to broaden his skills by starting an internship with Maestro Mirko Borghino. During this period of time, he had the opportunity to work on archtop and acoustic guitars, further strengthening his experience. In 2018, he returned to Milan where he started a long working experience with Maestro Lorenzo Lippi. Here he was able to refine his technique in classical guitar making, learning various construction approaches and improving the quality of his instruments. In the same year, he opened his workshop where he dedicated himself in the construction of classical guitars and in the restoration of ancient instruments. In each project, he always tries to harmonically combine tradition with innovation. Since 2021, he has taken part as an exhibitor in several editions of the Roma Expo Guitar (REG). In 2023, he was awarded the 3rd prize in the Classical Guitar Category at the “VI Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition” in Granada. His instruments are featured in the showcases of some of the most important international dealers.
