Adele Sbernini was born in Verbania on the 14th of January 1984 at a time when her father, Maestro Luca Sbernini, was achieving major recognition in leading national and international violin making competitions. From an early age, she showed a strong inclination for drawing and woodworking which initially began as simple hobbies. In 2008, she graduated with top honors in Molecular Biology from the University of Pavia. Gifted with natural manual skills , she decided to build her first violin, an experience that proved to be a turning point. From that moment on, she began a long apprenticeship in her father’s workshop, where she honed her skills in both instrument making and restoration. Since 2011, she has also worked periodically in the workshop of Maestro Dario Segala, before opening her own studio in 2012 in Ghiffa, a town in the province of Verbania. In 2016, she joined the professional group of the Associazione Liutaria Italiana (A.L.I.), and in 2021, she was awarded an Honorable Mention at the International Triennale Violin Making Competition in Cremona. Her violin reached the acoustic finals and received the highest violin-making score in the category. Her extensive experience in restoration has given her the opportunity to study a wide range of antique instruments, helping her to develop a refined sensibility and personal style. The careful selection of tonewoods and her meticulous attention to every structural and aesthetic detail have become hallmarks of her work. Open to experimentation, she continually explores new arching profiles and construction techniques, aiming to enhance the natural potential of each piece of wood and to pursue excellence in every step of the process.
