Violins, Violas, Cellos

Giulio Morassi was born in Cremona in 1997. He has always shown a deep interest in violin making. His training took place at the workshop Liuteria Artistica Cremonese, founded by Gio Batta Morassi, a renowned center that has shaped many of today’s great master luthiers. He became a professional member of the Associazione Liutaria Italiana in 2016. Over the years, he has curated the Association’s exhibitions at numerous prestigious events, including the Risonanze Festival in 2017, Teatro Filodrammatici in both 2016 and 2018, Cremona Musica in 2022, 2023, and 2024, Il Piccolo Violino Magico competition in 2024, and La Folle Journée in Tokyo in 2025. In 2019, he attended the specialisation course in violin making at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing which is the most prestigious music university in China and he became the first Western luthier ever admitted to the program. He builds violins, violas, and cellos inspired by the Stradivari tradition, carrying forward the distinctive style of the Morassi family while adding his own personal touch. His varnishes are made using fine resins prepared according to classical methods. The tonewoods are naturally aged for at least 20 years: the maple comes from the Balkans, while the spruce is strictly sourced from the Tarvisio Forest. His artistic work is characterised by an unwavering attention to detail, meticulous selection of raw materials, and a strong stylistic identity, the same qualities that define three generations of Morassi luthiers. His instruments are played and exhibited in Italy, the European Union, Russia, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Australia.
