Diego Serrano was born in Havana in 1955. From 1985-1986 he studied with Vladimir Pilar in Hradec Kralove (Bohemia). He graduated at the International Violinmaking School of Cremona in 1992 where he studied with Giorgio Cé and Stefano Conia. From 1992 and 1996 he worked in the CEE Workshop (European Community Workshop) in Cremona. From this period onwards he continued to pefect his technique under the guidance of Gio Batta Morassi. Following this he opened his own workshop in the center of Cremona, on Via Ala Ponzone 35, between Piazza Stradivari and the Ponchielli Theatre. His work is inspired by the classical Cremonese tradition, both in the working technique as well as models, the style used by the old Cremonese masters (Amati Guarneri, and Stradivari) is his principal point of reference. His varnish is a wann brown red and if ispired by the early works of Antonio Stradivari.
