Gaspar Borchardt was born in 1961 in Santiago (Chile), to German parents descending from musicians; writers and dealers.
He fell in love with the sound of the violin when he was six years old an instrument that he began to play many years later after learning to play the piano.
He completed his studies in Germany where he specialized in classicai subjects. He then decided to study violinmaking, and be
enrolled in the violinmaking School of Cremona where he graduated in 1988.
He established himself in Cremona in 1984, enrolling in the Chamber of Commerce as a professional maker in 1990. During this period he met Alessandro Crillovi who became a friend and guide in the construction of string instruments, which closely resemble the sound of the antique Cremonese instruments. He recently established his workshop on the central square overlooking the cathedral where he caters for professional musicians that include several soloists. His violins have a wide range of sound and provide the musician with a stimulating tool capable of expressing the subtlest possibilities.
